M113 Armored Personnel Carrier “Walk Around” SQUADRON SIGNAL M113 APC Walk Around. Book by David Doyle. Squadron Signal Books. Illustrated with 170 photographs, plus color profiles and detailed line drawings; 72 pages. The M113 family of vehicles is arguably the most successful series of armored personnel carriers of all time. Produced in huge numbers, these ‘tracks’, served the US and its Allies from the early 1960s into the 21st century. The M113 has operated across the globe, serving alongside GIs wherever they deployed. Physical layout was logical – a hydraulically operated rear ramp allowed for quick egress from the troop compartment; the driver?s position and powerplant filled the forward spaces. The driver was provided with four M17 periscopes, and his hatch had provision for an M19 infrared periscope as well. The commander’s station, just aft of the driver, had a cupola equipped with five M17 periscopes and an M2 HB machine gun.

Two things hold this first edition copy from being rated Very Good. One is minor bumping on the bottom outside edges. Secondly, a stitch in a couple of signatures have broken requiring care to be taken with a few pages (see England pic). Otherwise this is a bright and ordered copy with no apparent marks. #400. Weyer’s Taschenbuch der Kriegsflotten 1939, Warships, Flottentaschenbuch

A solid copy that has received internal strengthening. The covers have mild bumping/rubbing at the bottom extremes. The exterior hinges have cracking but have been stabilized. There is mild toning to the textblock and a bit of soiling to the exterior edges. They have been strengthened in four places. See the title page and Argentinian page pics for examples of this. The latter has some light abrasions on the center of the right hand page. This is the only apparent textblock flaw. In German of course, but largely accessible to most anyone. #440. Taschenbuch Der Kriegsflotten 1914/15, Weyer’s Warships, Flottentaschenbuch

This is the first edition, second printing which included a separate addenda (pictured). It is ex library. The top of the spine was replaced and there has been some minor hinge reinforcement (pictured). Some loose advert pages in the rear were glued in. The covers are soft as manufactured and are moderately shelf worn. The textblock is toned but in good shape. Other than a signature and a library stamp it appears to be unmarked. #365.
